“GOOD-BYE . . . To  Hen’s off  Laying Eggs”

Including  PREDATOR PROOF CHICKEN COOPS

Fact is chickens can go off laying for up to a year after a predator attack.

Did you know it can take up to whole year for them to feel safe enough to start laying and producing eggs again!

Who want to have chicken to feed that don’t give you eggs? Not me! No

Let me explain…..  building a chicken coop is a better option than spending your hard earned cash to :-” buy chicken coop”

Most purchased chicken coops are made from light materials making it  harder to keep out your local predators like foxes and dogs where as building your own chicken coop the right way will give you a safe haven for you chooks. So here is some inspiration….

And build chicken coops instead of buying them! Use recycled materials and get it predator proof so you chickens will keep you in eggs all year round.

My name is Ingrid, I am 35 years old and I would like to tell you our caring for chicken household story. I am a keen gardener and mother of 2 children. I would like to tell you something about our  process of building a chicken coop.  Last September  I started to break down and cry.

I couldn’t help it we had lost one of our favorite chickens and I didn’t know how I was going to tell the kids.

It happened on Monday morning I knew the exact time I went out to check on the chickens. I was about to check the water. We had built a coop to keep our chickens in. It was from bits of mesh and wood. The chickens had and I could see a lot more feathers on the ground than usual but this did not concern me as the chickens had been moulting . I got a little closer and there were no signs of any invasion to coop. It was when I changed the water I could see that I was missing our favorite chicken, snowy. She was usually the first one to make herself noticed I looked and looked there were no signs of her getting out but there was all the signs of a tell tale struggle. Too many feathers for moulting and turned and I saw a hole at the bottom of the coop.

There was no blood and guts so it might not sound like a big deal too you, but telling the kids was going to be hard.

I was going to address some of the issues we had with the chicken coop on the weekend for instance digging the wiring in and elevating the coop so it didn’t flood when there was heavy rain. The problem was I wasn’t sure how I was going to go about it. I just didn’t know and it was not my bag to think too hard about. I meant the chickens were all okay and I just left them as they were.

I’m sure you have heard a story like this before or even somewhat similar. I’m sure you have also heard about consistent pesky animals stealing eggs and chooks and how hard it is to deal with once they have found your chicken coop.

Don’t get me wrong. I don’t want this to sound like a sob story. I’m not telling you this because I want to keep feeling bad or I want you to feel bad for me. You see prevention is always better than cure. And my story has a happy ending.

My story and your story can have a happy ending. By using pre chicken-coop- building- plan because unless you’re a carpenter or can make your own plan it becomes a hit and miss situation leaving you with a chicken coop that won’t always keep the chicken thieves away.

I got this information about how to build chicken coops that are built in specific ways to keep out predators and keep chickens secure. The range of plans has the chicken coops layout to minimilize stress for the chickens and you can’t get them for free online. In fact none of the free chicken coop plans I looked at were as easy to use and that did not have clear instructions or cutting plans. I think if you wanted plans as good as this you would have to see a draughts man and pay more 10 times or more.

I accidently found out about the plans while trying to find out why my chickens kept loosing feathers.

The important thing is. I now know how to how to help anyone who wants a sturdy well designed chicken coop that keeps out foxes, snake, etc and help with keeping out rats, cockroaches and all the nasty  environmental plus the ones that steal chicken eggs.

Let me tell you the important aspects these plans cover and why they make life easy as they guide you through the process.

Keeps Predators Out

First of all, you can get the job done fast and still have a sturdy well built coop. You won’t have gaps that let the small creatures in if you follow the construction material because everything is measured and fits together properly. Foxes and raccoons won’t be able to pry away at parts of you coop and get in.

I don’t believe you can have a predator proof chicken coop unless you use a plan to make sure everything joins together well.

When using these plans if you give four square meters per chicken you won’t have chicken stress from overcrowding or from you chickens feeling threatened again. They won’t make excessive noise anymore because they will have a happy and secure home.

80% More Eggs

Every time you chickens get stressed by predators it will affect their laying. One couple I know had a dog attack and there chickens did not lay for a year after the attack. Chickens lay automatically in a stress free environment and if that’s what you give them they will be more productive. Secure chicken coops =Happier chickens = more productive chickens.

When a chicken becomes too cold or hot over prolonged periods they become stressed. The only way to ensure this does not happen is to build ventilation into your coop. All the plans allow for proper ventilation and show you easily how to put vents in for a cold or hot climate. The chicken coops can also be built off the ground to reduce the risk of flooding and disease. I mean they looked at every aspect of chicken care, taking all this into consideration with each plan. There is one plan I didn’t like though and that was the movable chicken coop because moving the chickens can stress them out too …although if you only move them an inch a day how would the chickens know. They would probably just enjoy the fresh grass each day.

So Simple and Easy.

The plans are simple. It is easy to follow even if you have not built a chicken coop before. I don’t think I could have found it so easy if the plan I used did not have the cutting plan. Because all you do is take the plan to the hardware and they cut it out for you! Or cut your own stuff out of recycled wood and start assembling step by step. The chicken coop will be finished in no time!

Emotional Satisfaction Building it Yourself

Right after you download the plans you can get the design you like best, use building materials you might already have , get your project organized with all you materials together and be guided through the process by the plans. It makes you life easier by choosing a design that suits you best especially if you design your floor for easy cleaning .You can even elevate

My favorite building chicken coops video so please enjoy!

This lady has built the ultimate chicken coop in her work shop under the stars with comfy nests for laying and brilliant roosts and roost ladders she has the lot. I loved her taj mahal shaped doorways but at the end of the day, I don’t know how she will deal with keeping her chickens safe from animals that will dig in.

She does a heck of a job using screws rather than nails to make a sturdy coop and joins all the parts together like leggo.

Puts the roof tar paper on properly and even lifts the whole roof truss by herself. Amazing and well done. Got to admire her self sufficiency and building skills. She uses a variety of tools like a jigsaw for creative touches and ever pays attention to detail by sanding back her creatively shaped doors. The only thing that worries me… is I don’t see how it will stop foxes getting in. She is probably going to have to shut the door of the coop every night or take down her wonderful roosting ladder every night.

I guess this is what amazes me the most!

People make this interesting design chicken coops but they forget some really important aspects and just make it harder than it has to be…

Chickens will go off laying all together if they start being under attack from predators and let’s face it you won’t enjoy finding missing or dead chickens.

That’s why I suggest making the right choices for your  chicken coop design.

I found a set of plans to use and I would not consider building a chicken coop witho0ut because I want my chicken to be safe from dogs, foxes and the rest of the animals around. See building chicken coops (I do get bonuses for recommending) how to go about building chicken coops. If it’s worth building it’s worth doing it right  if you want to have the easiest chicken coop to maintain along with great eggs and healthy chickens.
